Renewable energy is still quite far from being affordable. Hybrid car is getting cheaper but the initial price is still higher to pay up front compared to gasoline powered. Not to mention that the expensive battery (just like any other battery) have a very limited life span and must be replaced if you intent to drive that car beyond your block. Solar panel for your home? Forget about it. In my opinion, for an average user that spend between $40 - $100 a month for electricity, investing in solar panel is not a good move, financially. The upward cost to purchase and installation is still too high. The modest calculation for an average of $75 per month user will take about 20 years to pay it back, to break even. Not to mention maintenance cost, if the panel broke, or defective. The sun has more energy than what we can consume, much more…but only if we can harness it efficiently. The technology is catching up, but not mature yet, not today. So back to fossils fuel, we still have some gazillion dead dinosaurs soup underneath. Suck it up!
